Positive
Thinking
Can Speed Your Healing!
WELCOME!
Welcome
to my new Enews format. I felt that the old format was limiting for what
I wanted in a newsletter, so I decided to shake things up a bit.
I hope that you enjoy this
newest
issue!
I
also found that
many
people were getting bogged down because I was giving them too much
information in each issue. For
that reason, they put off reading it until they had more time.
Often they never got back to it at all.
For
that reason, I decided to reduce the number of topics
that I talk about in each
issue as well. I would rather bring you a single topic each month that
sticks with a reader, instead of 4 or 5 involved topics that don't get
read!
This
new format is a ‘work in progress’, so I hope that you will bear
with me during this transition!

People
have long asserted that being positive can speed healing and improve the
quality of that healing.
There is, however, more to this ‘happy healing’ than just
putting a smile on your face.
Recent
research studies echo this idea of happiness and better healing. A
German study, published in Neuro Endocrinology Letters
(2004), found that ...”Moderate pleasurable experiences are able to
enhance biological flexibility and health. Hence, pleasure can be a
resistance resource .”
This means that performing pleasurable activities, thinking
pleasant thoughts, and then projecting them into your own life, can
speed a more complete and successful recovery from trauma and illness.
Chiropractic
has described this phenomenon of the human mind, since day one!
D.D. Palmer, the father of Chiropractic, first described the...”innate
intelligence of the human body”... long before anyone else
recognized or professed self-healing techniques.
Chiropractic continues to remain the leader in self-healing
medicine!
Ignorant
people who were afraid to learn about the neurological processes of
healing have persecuted chiropractic over the years. Thankfully, with
time and public education, Chiropractic has taken its rightful place in
the forefront of safe and effective care for many types of injury and
trauma!

Why
Johnny Can't Read
Educational
Demands Often Blamed for Poor Grades
Students are
often quick to blame parents and teachers for their poor grades, but
that blame may be misplaced. Recent research, published in the Annals
of General Psychiatry (2006), found that there was a distinct
relationship between video-gaming and ADHD in adolescents.
Adolescents who
spent more than one hour each day on the Internet or playing video games
suffered greater degrees of ADHD symptoms and inattention deficits than
did those adolescents who did not.
It was strongly
suggested that those students with increased levels of inattention
and focus would likely suffer with problems of learning in school.
I don't think that these
findings are any big surprise to parents or educators. Kids today
do spend considerable time playing high-speed video games and watching
'quick blip' music videos, as well as text-messaging.
This in itself may
seem like no big deal, but there is something neurological that occurs
when, as a youth, we train our brain to learn and react at a
speeds, which are different than we are hard-wired to perform.
When children train
their brains to receive and process information quickly, they may be
missing out on an important part of learning, which is integration
and understanding!
Learning, which
occurs without real integration and understanding of the material
studied, rarely leads to long-term recall or knowledge.
The student who
learns in this manner becomes a processor of information, but not
a user of information.
The key to
resolving this problem may be to simply turn off the television, log-off
of the computer, put down the cell phone and.....

Exercise Often, Why Aren't I Healthier?
It
might surprise a few people to hear me say that exercise has only
limited benefits to being healthy!
We are told by society that we are
supposed to look a certain way, and if we don't, we are lazy, slovenly
and lack personal responsibility. To that I say... 'Humbug'.
A person can be classified by Medical
Standards as 'obese and unhealthy', even though he or she exercises 3-4
days a week, has normal blood pressure and no cholesterol or arthritic
problems, and will likely live to be 90.
This is in contrast to the person
deemed Medically healthy by normal weight standards, but who

does not exercise, has high blood
pressure, and suffers with a myriad of ailments that will significantly
shorten his or her life, even with drug therapy.
So, which person do you think is
actually the healthiest and will live the longest?
I you chose 'chunky'...your
right!
Eileen's Corner
"This
is my version of a classic appetizer. I hope that you enjoy it!"
Crab
Appetizer
6 English
Muffins halved. I like to use Old English, I think that they are the
best.
2 Tbs of
Mayonnaise
1 stick of
butter softened
1/2 lb of crab
meat. I like to use 1 package of Louis Kemp Artificial Crab Meat.
1 Tsp Lawry's
or Tastefully Simple Garlic Seasoning
1 1/2 jars of
Old English, Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Chop up the
crab meat (I use a cuisinart!) and then mix all ‘soft’ ingredients
together.
Spread the
mixture on English muffin halves and cut the halves into quarters.
Place them on
cookie sheets and freeze them. Once frozen, transfer the triangles to
Ziploc freezer bags.
To cook: Place
as many of the frozen triangles on a cookie sheet as you want and BROIL
them until the
cheese bubbles.
Cool slightly
and eat up!
Enjoy!
